Poison the Well / Every Time I Die @ 930

Posted on 29 October 2007 by Todd

Ok, so Underoath isn’t really one of my favorite bands; but, they were coming through town with PTW and ETID in tow, and we didn’t want to miss them. Problem is, with Underoath headlining, the crowd was mostly high school Christian kids who didn’t really give as much love to the openers.

Eric and I hung out in our usual spot by the bar on the top floor and drank Yuengling Porters. While we were there, we ran into Timo and Jason from the now-also-defunct Down to This. We chatted a little about what we were all doing musically, and then they headed downstairs after PTW’s set.

ETID did seem to be a bit more popular with the crowd than PTW did and they put on a sweet show as usual. Andy (guitarist) was cracking us up with his grizzly beard, flannel shirt and girl jeans. Plus, the aerobics run is always awesome.

Both new albums rawk:

Big Mountain Bike Adventures

Posted on 12 October 2007 by Todd

I just discovered this tour guide through the beauty of social networking. Despite my virtual non-use of my Twitter, I was browsing it today and checked out the profiles of the two people currently following me… which then led me to Mike P’s blog. It was there that I saw his entries on his trip to Switzerland with Big Mountain Bike Adventures. Having spent some time in the Swiss Alps while backpacking back in ‘98 (albeit, none of it mountain biking), I was excited to read about his riding there and am now anxious to do a trip of my own. I’ll be sure to give BMBA a ring when I’m ready and have the money for it…

Minus the Bear @ Black Cat

Posted on 11 October 2007 by Todd

Minus the Bear was awesome at the Black Cat last night. Plus, I managed to get rock star parking again almost directly in front of the venue and directly in front of a Spanish market, from which we acquired a six pack of Dos Equis for some pre-gaming. We had Burton with us, so he enjoyed the extra time we spent in the car.

Lewis and I first became hooked on MtB after hearing “Menos El Oso,” but their new CD “Planet of Ice” is also great. Maybe not quite as hooky, but more mature. Be sure to check them out!
